The Hebrew Letter Yod…

*

The Hand.

Variously interpreted as the ‘hand of man’, or ‘the hand of god’.

This kind of thinking drives the scientific mind mad.

It has to be one or the other.

It cannot be both.

Since quantum some scientists have begun to see…

*

The Yod even looks like a quantum.

It can be described as both a particle and a wave.

Its original shape formed the likeness of an extended forefinger.

Very phallic…

Which might be one reason why God divests Sarai of her Yod?

…Or very magical…

If the finger were a candle, it’s tip would be a flame.

Or floral…

…The stalk, its bud.

*

The point of a point.

And the secret of this point?

*

The power of the infinite

to contain finite phenomena within it,

and express them as an apparent reality.

  1. I’m not trying to be argumentative, but how can we possibly know that we are both man and God at the same time? If it is possible to conceive of the notion of a God, is it not also possible that the God lives within us? I remember reading perhaps in Gilgamesh, or somewhere similar that first the Gods toiled the ground, but then after awhile, they turned over the responsibility to mankind so that they could indeed be Gods and do the things that Gods do? So is this perhaps telling us that at one time man has been God and at another God has been man. Can this refer to an inner and outer sense of the world? Just thinking and questioning in my mind the nature of man and God. I suppose this could take my whole life to figure out, and that is just a guess.Thank you kindly for a truly stimulating issue to ponder.

    1. I sincerely believe that we as human beings are created in the image of God. This by the fact that each of us have immaterial qualities such as imagination, memory, and the ability to make decisions–free will. The nature of man is that he/she is both physical and spiritual. No other living thing, such as an animal, has these qualities.
