The Head-of-Gary Hill, otherwise known,
these days, as Callanish II…
provided us with a rest-up place for the night.
*
We use the term ‘night’ loosely
because in point of fact
the night, which normally
would be dark or ‘black’,
remained light or ‘white’.
*
Anyhow, it was a peaceful enough place
to settle down
and we ‘awoke’ refreshed
and ready to explore the rest of the island.

Such amazing characters as I see here – the old gentleman who might well be the king in the colorful costume, and then in the second photo, the winged servant follows closely behind, yet all but the king (except one who looks to the king as if waiting for some signal) is turned to look out perhaps toward the sea. The king seems determined to move forward, barely seeming to be aware of the others around him, and as though he is tired from all the world and all that it has brought him. As he struggles along, we have to wonder about the life he has led and what is causing all of those who are left to wander as they seem to be doing. Feels so truly sad.
