‘All the King’s Men’…

*

As he sat on his throne, the King, heard a commotion

of noise and cries coming from the palace roof-tops.

“Who goes there?” he shouted from the window of the throne-room.

“It is us,” replied his palace guards in some confusion, “we are

doing the rounds in search.”

“In search of what?” asked the King.

“In search of our horses,” came the reply.

“Whoever searched for horses on the roof of a palace?” said the King.

“We follow the example of one who seeks union with God while sitting on a throne.”
