Ghosts…

***

After all… What is a Ghost?… A trace of something that once was… These, though, were real people… As once, were ghosts… Real, then… Even that’s debatable… Bill was there… Don’t quite know how he got to be there… But he was definitely there… Jon… Hmmm… Jon may have been there… He may not… No, No… He was definitely there…  Because he laughed about Traci… Scrubbing the walls… Before the party was over… The clean-up was well underway… For some, at least… Which just leaves… Jo Cass… Impossible… For at least two reasons… Two of everything… Which we will explore.

Make no mistake, Blade Runner is where the control grid want to take us… Before it was a film directed by Ridley Scott… It was a book written by Philip K Dick… Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep… Back to Dolly… But here is the thing… One of the actresses in that film who plays one of the androids, is called Jo Cass… And Jo Cass was there that night… Not that Jo Cass… Our Jo Cass… One of our friends was also called Jo Cass!… Which is ever so slightly coincidental… Deeply shocking, actually… Jo Cass played the android shot to pieces by Deckard in the shopping mall.

How did she get there?… We don’t really know… And although there were many people in our ring of Auld Lang Syne… Only Bill… And Jon… And Jo… Stand out… Standing out is a choice thing… It can be achieved in two ways… By stepping forward… Or by everyone else agreeing to step back in unison… Conspiratorial ghosts… Naughty, naughty ghost people… Of those who stepped back… Or in this case… Were still in the house, partying… While we were out in the street singing… Were Bob, and Mog and Fee… But then again… Perhaps Fee was also in our ring… Well really, who can say?…
