‘No Way’…

***

Stewart Copeland… The erstwhile drummer… Of pop group… The Police… It is well known… Is the son of… Miles Copeland Jr… Who for seventeen years… From Nineteen-Forty to Nineteen-Fifty-Seven… Was a Central Intelligence Agency operative… In Nineteen-Seventy-Nine… The Ten year anniversary of the… Moon landing… This threesome… Released… Walking on the Moon… Which went on to become their second… You Kay… Number one hit… Re-watching the promotional video… Of this song… With the idea that all may not be quite what it seems… With that historic event… Is instructive!

***

The band make no attempt to properly simulate… The playing of their instruments… With Stewart using the blasters of the Saturn V space rocket… As his drums… Although that was not unusual for the time… At one point during the song… Stewart can be seen to stroke his chin… Presumably in contemplation… And then shake his head… Whilst suppressing a smile… Towards the end of the song… The group sit on a simulator… Of some kind… And the sped up footage… Of the American flag being planted… On the moon is played… To the refrain… May as well play the game… Keep it up!

Once agency… Always agency… As the saying goes… And it would appear that… This dictum applies also… To members of the family… And family friends… The boys in the band… It seems… Are in the club as well… Which might explain… Why very few of our… Teenage rebel heroes… Can be seen or heard to criticize… Any of the establishment… Scams that we are becoming used… To seeing… Play out before our very eyes… When viewed in this light… The promotional video… Is quite a disturbing piece of work… Catchy tune though… My feet don’t hardly… Make no sound… Walking on the moon!
