Little-Big Field…

County Tyrone, Wednesday, 15th June, 2022…

***

***

Maybe, the magical battle

is still going on?

***

***

The Fomorians are described as

one-eyed, one-legged, and one-armed?

*

Which could just mean that they

were regarded as being deformed in some way.

***

***

Some of our adversaries, these days,

are nothing if not single-minded.

***

***

The structures of Little-Big Field

can at first sight seem chaotic and confusing.

***

***

There are circles, cairns, and stone rows,

apparently, all jumbled up together.

***

***

But the stone rows

start small and end big

at the cairns.

***

***

And the faces

in the portal-stones

to the circles

appear to be conversing.

***

***

What could they be saying?

*

Given the chance,

what would you say

to your long departed forebears?

***

***

The track of time

is not linear but circular,

at least that much is clear.

***

***

We still meet, to moot,

in a circle just like they did

but from the distance of time

a circle looks a lot like a line.

***

***

Traditional dance

explores lines and circles.

***

***

Maybe, instead of fighting

all the time, we could dance instead?

***

Twelve cairns, seven circles and five stone-rows to date.

***

What the dead said:

“It has got nothing at all to do with comets!”
