Thatchers’ Haze…

***

…Loki tried to take to the air again

but his pinions were caught fast in the thatch!

***

***

When Greip returned to the great hall

clutching the hawk

Geirrod was already in full flow

regaling Gjalp with his plans for training the new pet.

***

***

“That’s no bird,” said Gjalp, peering into its eyes,

“it’s a god in disguise.”

***

***

Geirrod snatched the hawk from Greip’s grasp

and stared at it, “Which god?” he said,

his fingers tightening around the bird’s neck.

***

***

Loki said nothing.

***

***

“Maybe hunger will loose your tongue,” said Geirrod,

flinging the hawk into his cellar and then bolting shut the door.
