‘Ch… Ch… Changes’…

County Meath, Saturday, 30th July 2022…

***

…It is easy to say, certainly,

but less easy to say what

is, in fact, happening with such changes in form.

***

Rudolf Steiner talked a lot about

changes in the nature of consciousness over the ages

and this has more than a mere ring of truth to it.

***

New Grange Gnomon-Stone.

***

It is linked to the ‘bear-shirt’

which gives us, berserkers, and also

to the were-wolf as well!

*

In the Scandinavian folk record

such ‘shape-shifting’ abilities

are linked to certain royal bloodlines.

***

It may also have something to do with

animal totems and clans?

*

It may even have something

to do with the stars?

*

Koo Kullin, who, it turns out, is pretty much

the hero of our epic tale, possessed

the ability to go, what one early commentator

called, ‘warp-spasm’ during a fight.

***

…The wolf-shape on him then;

his jaw stretched to each ear ’til

the red of his gullet showed and

his lips drew back over his eye-teeth;

if one eye narrowed to a needle-point,

then the other widened like a goblet-mouth;

his hair stood erect to the nape of his neck

and the hero-light rose around his head.

***

Somewhat surprisingly, perhaps,

there are aspects of this

description which match

in minute detail our Sheela-na-Gigs.

*

As most of the Sheela’s are bald

we refer here to the description of

the mouth and also to that of the eyes.

***

Manannan mac Lir

the Irish seafarer for whom

the Isle of Man is named

has a magic cloak which he uses

to prevent people ever again meeting.

*

This, though, is probably

just a euphemism for death.

***

If the Boyne were the outline

of a woman’s body,

Dowth would be situated at the throat centre,

Knowth would be at the sacral centre,

whilst New Grange would be the womb of the ‘bump’,

or the ‘bend’ in the river.

*

There is even another earth-work shown,

on the map below, where the navel would be!

***

Is this fanciful?

*

Undoubtedly, yet such a scheme

aligns well with the mythology still associated

with these sites.
