I first visited Glastonbury during the height of the crop-circle ‘flap’.
The ever increasing quantity and geometric complexity of the circles had led to a yearly symposium, with trips out to see the finest examples, most recently discovered, and guest speakers from all over the world.
Sitting outside one of the high street pubs in the sunshine, just behind the town-cross elicited a prophetic utterance… ‘It doesn’t even feel like we’re in England anymore. This feels more like France or Spain.”

Years later, as part of the Silent Eye team we ran our first, ‘Walk and Talk’ event in the town.
Taking in some of the more famous mystical sites, of which there are many, over the course of an afternoon stroll, with readings from our companions at each of the sites…

Since that time, our contacts in the town meant that we were often visitors at the many events that take place there.
Most memorably of late, perhaps, was a May-Day trip to see the Red and White Dragons paraded through the streets, and the erection of a May-Pole on the Tor which took place, I think, in the year Twenty-Seventeen.

… So when a friend recently and quite unexpectedly proposed a trip there it came as something of a pleasant surprise and my acquiescence to the proposal was out of my mouth before I had chance to properly take it in.
Must have been missing the Old Place!

We would be staying at the George & Pilgrims, one of my favourite Hotels and Pubs in all the world, and once ensconced in this old Coaching Inn, well, anything can happen…
