We have become familiar with this sort of art
from our sojourn in Southern Ireland.

But there the ‘sun wheels’ awaited beams
of light from the heavens which were engineered,
by the design and positioning of the monuments
which contained them, to fall in their midst
at a precise time, for a precise duration.

Here, the art has been inscribed
on natural outcrops of rock!
*
Art for arts sake?
*
Or a training centre
for budding artists?
*
Who knows?
***
***
There is one thing, though,
which we all noticed when we were there,
and which may, or may not, work with the photographs.
***
***
The more we looked at them,
the more of these designs emerged,
seemingly, from the very depths of the stone.
*
A little like stars
from the night sky…
