***
Walking along the track
a couple of suspicious stones
draw the attention…
***

***
They turn out to be the feet
of a long barrow
which runs directly alongside the track.
*
And this turns out to be some sort
of switch, or trigger, for the sun
which from this point on gradually begins to appear
from behind the swathes of clinging cloud…
***

***
The first site to appear
is affectionately known as
Fingal’s Cauldron Seat…
***

***
We can let the information board explain this one…
***

***
Fingal’s dog is called Bran,
by the way.
***

***
The holed-stone for Bran’s tether
is the third stone from the left in the image below.
