Encircles us
His made up face
And painted on
Smile belies
An origin
Not thought
Much less sought
From a world inanimate.

The balding pate
Sprouts tufts of hair
More often carrot or corn
A cherry nose of viral scorn
Oversized
Adorned
A backward child
With childish pride
Appraised in adulthood.

Not a fan of clowns, I have to admit. Jesters are okay though. And I did like Emmett Kelly when I was a little girl. This was really good – captured a clown!
