Today, the world was yellow.
Everywhere I looked, golden flowers,
Bright against the green,
Laughing in the sunshine
Of a spring morning.
Yesterday the world was blue.
Shadowed under darkened skies,
Rain-washed petals,
Rivulets than ran
Towards the earth
As if to seek shelter…
From themselves.
Tomorrow the world may be pink.
All soft and gentle
In the dawning light.
Or maybe purple,
Scented with lilac
And French lavender…
An older world
Walking the future.
But today, the world was yellow
And it laughed at itself;
Shaking its head in the breeze,
And basking in the golden glow
As springtime
Waits for summer.
