A Ruined Church…

Dumfries and Galloway, Anwoth Chapel, 28th October 2022

***

***

A surprise, this one.

*

And the scene may be familiar to you, also?…

*

If you are struggling,

then the building opposite may

ring some more bells…

***

***

Anwoth chapel and old school-house

were locations for the cult classic horror film,

The Wicker Man!

***

***

A favourite film, back in the day,

now rapidly approaching

the fiftieth anniversary of its original release.

***

***

Despite the time span

the location remains relatively unchanged

save for the removal of a few props

and is instantly recognisable

for those who are familiar with the film.

***

***

We refer to the original

Nineteen-Seventy-Three version

of the film directed by Robin Hardy,

with a screenplay by Anthony Schaffer,

a soundtrack, to die for, by Paul Giovanni,

and starring Edward Woodward, Christopher Lee, and Britt Eckland.

*

Check it out!

***

***

Not, under any circumstances, to be confused

with the monstrous Two-Thousand-and-Six remake,

starring Nicholas Cage, which version,

in my humble opinion,

should be expunged from the face of the earth.

***

***

Suffice it to say,

a rather magical half-an-hour

was spent down memory lane.

*

And if this sort of thing

is your cup-of-tea…

***

***

Then, put the kettle on!
