he remembered the centre of the circle of stones
flat and cairn free, which, if true, makes something of
a mockery of the artists impression carried by the information board.

How long will it be before that little
snippet of folk lore is conveniently forgotten
or put down to ‘false memory’?

The ‘kerb stones’ certainly resemble
regular standing stones.

But then, one man’s horizon line
is another man’s flat earth!

And there was still a sun up there
behind the clouds…

Which could only bode well
