Cannibals…

***

We have to consider… An ‘Amerindian’ life too… Inevitably… There were ‘Indian’ figurines on top of the Tee-Vee… Age three… And Bill’s dad… Who painted ‘Indian’s’… All the time… And had read most… If not all… Of the books… Even through the skewed lenses… Of the Hollywood Western… It was clear that these people… Got a rough deal… At ‘our’ hands… And that the authorities… Did not speak for us on this… Not in our name… Are the indigenous peoples… Of the land… Any land… Which is all land… Cleared from their ancestral homes… What is it they fear… These Cultural Cannibals?

***

They fear death… Certainly… And ultimately… They fear life too… All life… Everywhere… Must be destroyed… Unless it conforms with their ideal… Which changes… On a whim… Has no authenticity… And no soul… Is not connected… To the source… And makes no sense… At all… Ever… There don’t seem to be any memories… But there are connections… Maybe those memories… Are of such an unsavoury sort… That they have been buried… Deep… In the earth… The telluric forces flow… From site… To site… On the surface of the earth… They have the ability to transform… Everything.

There was a Templar figurine too… Later… With surplice… And flag… And horse… Some memories of this… A sort of function… With music… And dancing… And women… Not overly religious… The music would explain a fascination… With the Troubadours… And Jed’s record… But well… What a sound… A lament… For the mystery of womanhood… Gone now… Withdrawn from circulation… No trace of it… Even with the catalogue number… The current rendition of those songs… Some of which can still be found… Don’t come close… How come we keep discovering things… And then losing them?

We'd love to hear from you...
