‘Poor-Poor, Robinson’…

***

Crusoe is ripe… For the revisionists one would have thought… Although the owners of… Our nite-club… Did at least make it… Friday’s Island… A black-and-white… Or should that be… Monochrome… Dutch… Dubbed… Version of this ‘classic’ story… Was piped into our living rooms… Over the summer holidays… For more years than can easily be counted… On the digits of a hand… And this admittedly addictive… Holiday fare… Along with that other staple… Of our early… Silly-season… The Flashing Blade… Was destined to remain… Unresolved… One sincerely hoped… Robinson made it off the Isle…

Without ever watching him… Actually do so… Perhaps, the most memorable thing… About this series… Though, was the use… Of a musical signal… To indicate… The flashbacks… Of which there were many… This technique… Really ought to have been pursued… More ardently… Especially in the… Hard-wiring of the androids… Following the narrative… Would have been made… So much easier… Don’t you think?… By the time we got to Fee’s party… She had wearied of Ash… And was eyeing up Hesk… She was able… To do ‘the voice’ which was not a voice… More a way of speaking… But which helped.

***

Where did it come from?… This strange way of talking… And what was it doing there?… What was it’s purpose… Other than communication, obviously… Weirdly, it designated… Status… And Hierarchy… Subtle communication… But communication… Nonetheless… Do you think that will wash… When you get to meet your maker… Who, by definition… Stands at the head… Of all hierarchies?… It won’t… Of course… But it may very well be… That you are your own maker… Judge… Jury… Witness… Victim… And perpetrator… And that is more than one in the eye… For the so called trans-humanists… Huh?
