Isle of Arran, Sunday, 30th October, 2022
***
***
True to form our picnickers
soon disappeared…
***
***
Leaving us alone with the stones.
***
***
In all the publicity shots
these three stones
appear with a mountain as backdrop.
***
***
So, a swift three-sixty
will reveal the mountain, right?
***
***
Wrong!
***
***
At first we suspected the publicity shots
had ‘photo-shopped’ the mountain in
for greater dramatic effect, which in hind-sight
always did seem a rather unlikely eventuality.
***
***
Then we realised that the clouds,
which in one way or another had plagued us all day,
were now obscuring the mountain.
***
***
Which was, to say the least, disappointing!
***
***
So, we will just have to come back
another day and try again.

I was so lucky to visit on a sunny day and got the mountain in the background. Wish I could attach a picture here. There is one on a blog post, hope you don’t mind me including the link. https://darlenefoster.wordpress.com/2021/09/03/the-incredible-isle-of-arran/

Having said that, I think the clouds add to the mystic of the place.
