The single note to a symphony.
A fracture to the form.
One outcome amid possibilities range.

How the variation chases the theme,
and each colour its true hue…

Whilst the picture, seeking to depict,
distorts distance.

And what of chance in continuities dance?
Can we grant meaning to meanings?

Only with lenses cleansed
does the holy become real.

The gulf between becoming

NUANCES OF NICOLL
The Keys to Heaven
Stuart France
Psychologist, Maurice Nicoll studied under Fourth Way exponents G.I Gurdjieff and P.D. Ouspensky, and presented his own philosophy in a series of works published during the Mid Twentieth Century.
In his seminal work, Living Time… he makes no bones about insisting that the psychological states and concepts that he is expounding, and their utilisation, are ancient and stretch back through Christianity, Judaism, the Greek Philosophers, and on into the mysterious climes of Pre-Dynastic Egypt…
In re-presenting these ideas as a series of poetic explorations, author and essayist, Stuart France uncovers a series of links with the Mediaeval Traditions of the Northmen, and the Matter of Britain!
What is the original story of our week? How does the moon harrow hell? Prepare to be enthralled, entertained, educated, and enlightened, as new light is shed on the enigmatic figures of Wotan, Merlin, and King Arthur.
They do not write books like this anymore if indeed they ever did!

The gulf between becoming
and being is a quality of soul. – do you think so Stuart. You may be right. I have always thought it was ambition.

Ambition relates only to the mundane world… being to a wider one.

I’m caught by the line “And what of the chance in continuities dance?” At first, I want to put an apostrophe at the end of continuities.’ But then, I reconsider. What if this difference is intentional? It is hard sometimes, to read poetry the way it is intended without wanting to smash the words to fit a mold that is easier to understand. I loved the imagery and the jangle of words I would not have put together the same way. It is a window into another mind and it is nice to be invited to view the world in a new way.

Beautiful. And how I love when we allow ourselves to see the holy in the real.
